Welcome to the Historic Borderland in Southern Jutland!

The designation Historic Borderland covers the area of Sønderborg Municipality, situated in the mainland Jutland and separated from our neighbour country Germany, by the border water inlet Flensborg Fjord.

The infra stucture of this area is good and getting here by car is easy by using the motorway E45 and route 8. The common transportation in form of bus or train to the local station of Gråsten is also an option. A trip to the northern part of island Als is easy and comfortable by the small car ferry Bitten, sailing from Ballebro on the mainland to Hardeshøj and if you are cycling, the bike transit on board is free.

Shopping of daily groceries is possible in Nybøl, Dybbøl and Broager, for a larger selection of stores visit the city Gråsten.
