On island Als and in the Sønderborg-area you´ll find many good playing sights ready to give you an amazing concert experience.
The classical works
The concert hall at Alsion is one of the best concert venues worldwide and home base to the sinfonia orchestra Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester. Here you can experience classical music, musicals and opera amongst other genre.
A church concert is a unique experience and a very different way of exploring a church room. The deanery Sønderborg Provsti organizes church concerts all year round.
In the summer time, you can enjoy concerts played on the old organ at Queen Dorothea´s Chapel at Sønderborg Castle. This is a unique opportunity to hear and experience the music of the renaissance in the exact tunes the music is written for. The concerts are advertised on the activity calendar of Museum Sønderjylland from midst June.
Music venues
Sønderborghus is the regional music venue of South Jutland. Here you can enjoy a wide genre of concerts and Danish stand-up all year. A small café serves pancake´s and refreshments before the concerts.
The artist couple Thomas Eje and Kathrine Scrivens Eje run culture house Harresbækgaard. The house is home to the couple as well as art gallery and concert venue. Group events can be arranged on request.
Olferts venner is a small association in Nordborg, organizing many different types of concerts all announced via their website.
Open air
Rock in Mølleparken is a yearly continual series of concerts held at the open-air venue Friluftsscenen Mølleparken in Sønderborg.
Park entertainment at Gartnerslugten in Rinkenæs is a continual series of free concerts held every Tuesday from calendar week 26 until and including week 31.
Nord-Als Musikfestival is the largest music festival in the Sønderborg-area. Every year locals meet at the scenic venue of Nordborg Castle to experience artist from home and abroad.
The 1-day festivals at Nøffel (Nybøl) and Stevning, is two cosy and free events, where you meet up with the locals over a cold beer or fizzy drink and enjoy the common interest - music.
Slagmarken is the latest venue in Sønderborg, situated north of the bridge Alssundbroen. The Grand Opening on June 11th, 2019 featured Bon Jovi´s only concert in Denmark and it was a great party. The concert was organized by Kultur i Syd and this venue will host many big stars in the future.
